This plastic tube connects the air intake box with the inlet on the turbocharger. There's an upper and lower section and this part number covers both. Over time and with exposure to heat the plastic can crack, leading to unfiltered air entering the intake as well as causing rough running, stumbling, throttle surging, poor running, and misfires. These can be caused by other things but a leak in the intake boot is easy to check and inexpensive to fix!
