Instead of buying just the boot this kit includes the related components too - accordion boot, inner clamp, and outer clamp. The hose clamps are the correct Oetiker style that will not loosen up over time but require a special Oetiker (pinch) clamp tool.

The tie rod boot is a simple protective cover for a very expensive system on your car: the steering rack and linkage. These boots are there to protect the inner ball joint on the tie rod, retain grease for the rack, and prevent outside debris from entering the rack. A ripped boot (sometimes called a gaiter) can spell bad news if left un-repaired. It's an easy replacement, and if done carefully, does not require an alignment after.
