This part is listed by BMW as BMW part number 31106874585 (31 10 6 874 585) and is described as the M12 hex nut used to secure the front upper control arm to the subframe G20 3-series and G22 4-series models. BMW calls it a Cage Nut. BMW recommends this nut be replaced any time it's loosened or removed.
