The Non-ASC Intake Boot allows you to remove the factory ASC throttle body (traction control) for improved intake air flow.
This intake boot was originally found on early, non-ASC equipped E36 325i / 325is models and the first year 1995 M3 3.0 liter, without the ASC+T traction control system. If you're replacing a failed, cracked, or leaking intake boot on one of these cars, this boot will fix you right up.
If you have a later car that came with the traction control system, but want to delete it, this intake boot replaces both the stock ASC intake boot and ASC throttle body, which is the secondary throttle body farthest from the intake plenum. Because this boot was originally used on the earlier cars, It has two hose connections on the underside and one will need to be plugged or capped off for 1996+ cars. This boot is also available in a silicone material that flows better and lasts longer (see below).
While this ASC throttle body will no longer be used, the actuator must remain on the car because this system is tied into the ABS system. Zip ties can be used to secure the actuator out of the way. As an alternative, you can also wire in a 10 ohm / 1 watt resistor, commonly found at Radio Shack or online, and the ABS system will be fooled into thinking the actuator is present. The ASC warning light will appear on the dash, but the bulb can be removed to eliminate this non-functional system.
This is a direct replacement for perfect fit.
