The rubber intake boot connects ASC throttle body to the intake plenum throttle body on the E36 318i / 318is / 318ic / 318ti from 1996-1998, and Z3 1.9. It's after the air filter and mass air meter so any rips or tears on the boot material will allow unfiltered and unmetered air into the engine. This intake boot is specific to the M44 4 cylinder engine powered BMW models, which were offered in 1996, 1997, 1998, and 1999.
