This fuel line returns fuel (parallel to the fuel send line) and traverses the front of the car from about the firewall back to the area of the fuel filter (though, being the return line, it does not direct connect to the fuel filter, but does terminate alongside it.
This return line is specific to the early E46 3 Series, which includes 1999-2000 323i, 323iT, and 328i 4-door sedan and wagons as well as the 2000 model 323Ci, 323Ci coupe and convertible models. These early E46 models had the M52tu engine.
Not for cars after the 2000 model year.
