BMW will have you believe that the differential fluid is a maintenance-free "lifetime" item, but we disagree. BimmerWorld recommends replacing the rear differential fluid every 50,000 miles on a street-driven car.
The rear differential service is a simple DIY maintenance task, requiring only a simple drain and fill. Our kit includes 2 Quarts of Red Line 75W85 synthetic gear oil and an original BMW fill plug with aluminum crush ring, so you'll have exactly what you need to get the job done.
This kit fits F44 228i, M235i Gran Coupe (2021+), F48 X1 28i (2016-2022), U11 X1 28i, M35i (2023+), F39 X2 28i, M35i (2018-2023), and U10 X2 28i, M35i (2024+).
