Red Line D4 ATF is the ideal choice for BMW automatic transmissions. This transmission requires consistent, low-viscosity fluids that are shear-stable, and Redline's D4 ATF easily satisfies those requirements. Red Line only uses premium Group IV and Group V blended oils to achieve better results than stock OEM fluid. These premium base oils are chemically engineered to be more stable under high temps and have superior lubricity than ATF that uses lower-grade Group III oils (most factory oils). The oil does a better job of clinging to surfaces, providing not just lubrication but protection as well. Additional detergents to help ensure a long service life.

Red line D4 ATF also provides a GL-4 level of gear protection, giving it balanced frictional characteristics that provide smooth and consistent shifts for extended drain intervals. The superior stability compared to petroleum ATFs allows high-temperature operation without varnishing valves and clutches which leads to transmission failure. D4 ATF also provides improved shifting in cold weather.

Automatic transmission fluid and filter servicing on modern BMWs is a complex procedure that takes skill and special tools and knowledge. It is not recommended for the casual DIY mechanic. For anyone not accustomed to transmission service, this job should be left for the experienced professional. This package includes 7 liters of Red Line D4 fluid, which is enough for a
partial drain and fill only. The full transmission capacity is 9.7 liters - fluid remains in the transmission and torque converter. You can add more Red Line D4 quarts if you want to have more on hand. Consult your mechanic about a full fluid flush and fill.
This is an OEM 5-speed transmission filter kit manufactured by ZF - the original supplier to BMW for this part, as well as many other driveline components. As the OEM it meets all of BMW's original design, fitment, and performance requirements and is TUV approved. OEM parts are the best alternative to more expensive Original BMW parts because they are virtually identical without the inflated price tag. This part has a two year warranty.
