Auto Transmission Filter Kit, CRP - E82 128i, E9X 325i/328i, X3 3.0si (GM GA6L45R)

This is a CRP transmission filter and gasket kit for the GM GA6L45R 6-speed automatic transmission used in E82 128i, E9X 325i/328i, and X3 3.0si models. Automatic transmissions use "lifetime" fluid but the transmission can be serviced with new fluid and filter*. This service kit includes the new filter and a new gasket:

1 x 24117572618, oil pan gasket
1 x 24117593565, oil filter

E82/E9X/E83 models were offered with a GM or a ZF 6-speed automatic. You may need to check the tag on the side of the transmission to confirm which is installed. Here are some hints: if you have a Sport button behind the shift lever you have the ZF transmission. The GM transmission has a metal oil pan; the ZF has a plastic oil pan.

* - Note that changing the fluid on automatic transmissions can be a very technical process that requires a precise procedure, special tools, and/or professional-level diagnostics software. There is no doubt that fresh fluid will perform better than used and dirty fluid. However, most of the problems we hear come from an improper transmission flush where particles and debris block fluid flow or a failure to set the correct fluid level after. We believe automatic transmission fluid service should be left to a professional BMW technician and that extended fluid service (>50,000 miles) is acceptable as long as the fluid level is regularly checked and maintained. This part is manufactured by an aftermarket supplier of European auto parts, including many filter and maintenance components. While not carrying OEM status, this part follows the design of the original very closely and uses similar materials. An aftermarket part may even have the same TUV approval as its OEM counterpart. The brand may even be OEM to another manufacturer besides BMW. This aftermarket brand has a two year warranty - the same as Genuine BMW and OEM brands.
