Elring Black RTV Liquid Sealant, 70ml

This part is the OEM equivalent of BMW part numbers 83190404517, 83190142916, 83190301463, 33100406621, 83192220991, 11137565928, 81229400243, 81229400339. It's described as black RTV sealant comparable to LOCTITE 5970 RTV.

This can be used to take the place of a paper, cork, or metal gasket. In some cases BMW no longer offers a gasket and recommends a RTV sealant instead. It's suitable for flanges and stamped sheet metal covers of either metal or most plastics, such as diff covers, oil pans, and timing covers (not for PE, PP and PTFE plastics). It provides good sealing performance even at high temperatures, chemical resistance, and a flexible seal even in high vibration applications. It has very good durability against gasoline, mineral and synthetic oil, Diesel, grease, lubricants, water, saltwater, and also coolant / anti-freeze. The pliable nature makes it very suitable for uneven and rough surfaces as well as smooth surfaces. Elring RTV is designed to be easily removed if your parts are disassembled in the future. It has a permissible temperature range of -60°C to 285°C and briefly up to 315°C (-76°F to 545°F, 599°F).

BMW does not offer a gasket for the oil pan on B38, B46, B48, B58, and S58 engines. They use RTV instead.

This is a 70ml tube. Allow 25 minutes for it to set.

There are multiple Elring part numbers for this product - 006.552, 006.553, 896.340, 896.341. All appear to be the same with the differences being the packaging, language (English vs German), and units (Fahrenheit vs Celsius).
