SMG Crankshaft Speed Sensor, BMW - E46 M3 with SMG (Smaller Tip)

This part is listed by BMW as BMW part number 12142296184 (12-14-2-296-184) and is described as Crankshaft Speed Sensor for E46 M3 with SMG.

Important! This sensor has a smaller sensor body than its sealing surface. It steps down from 17mm to approximately 15mm. This sensor is required in some SMG transmissions because the larger sensor is too big (part #13627548994). BMW does not make a distinction which sensor is installed and you must check before ordering. Unfortunately, this means removing the sensor, which will drain some fluid. This 184 part number is the official small tip sensor listed and should be the OEM option to BMW part #12147503140.
