This OEM water pump for the E36 and E34 uses a composite impeller to pump coolant through the system. This material is light years beyond the plastic impellers of the original M50 water pump design (that style is a thing of the past). Composite impellers weigh much less than the aftermarket metal versions, which means they work more efficiently (same output with less work). While you won't feel a horsepower gain changing from a metal to composite impeller, the engine doesn't have to work as hard to spin the shaft. It will also prolong the life of the bearings inside the pump.
This is a water pump made by Saleri, an original supplier to BMW for this pump as well as other cooling system components. It comes with a two year warranty.
