Radiator Control Sleeve (Petcock Valve), URO - E82, E9X, E89 Automatic Transmission

This is the radiator drain valve, also known as a BMW control sleeve or petcock valve, for automatic or DCT transmission E82, E90, E91, E92, E93, E84 X1, and E89 Z4 models. The blue screw in the center is a traditional drain valve. The rest of the design controls fluid flow to a heat exchanger for an automatic transmission. The longer control sleeve for automatic models allows fluid to reach the outlet on the radiator for the heat exchanger. The shorter control sleeves for a manual transmission block fluid to this outlet so you want to make sure you only use the long sleeve for automatic models.

If you remove the valve using the hex portion you will break the tabs that lock the valve in place. The system will never seal again until a new control sleeve is installed.

This part is manufactured by an aftermarket supplier of European auto parts, including many cooling components. While not carrying OEM status, this part follows the design of the original very closely and uses similar materials. An aftermarket part may even have the same TUV approval as its OEM counterpart. The brand may even be OEM to another manufacturer besides BMW. This aftermarket brand has a two year warranty - the same as Genuine BMW and OEM brands.
