The mounting bracket is a plastic frame that sits with the E83 X3 radiator support and gives a mounting location for the E83 X3 expansion tank. The frame itself is not a source of leaks or failures but having a new complete mounting bracket makes changing the reservoir a breeze instead of a struggle. The tank and the bracket are both plastic and will easily crack. Pre-assembling the tank and bracket as a unit means you won't have to struggle with a stubborn tank or broken parts.
