There are other kits out there that include additional cooling system parts. But when you only need to replace the radiator, this is a more appropriate package. With these parts you only need to disconnect the minimum number of parts to swap out the radiator - each hose from the thermostat and the mounting plate from the radiator. The water pump, thermostat, and expansion tank all remain in place. We can also build you a custom package with a discount for any additional parts you need.
CSF Aluminum performance radiators feature a thicker core combined with their B-tube design to offer greatly enhanced cooling performance with improved durability. Instead of a single oval radiator tube, CSF has two tubes in the shape of a "B" that have more surface area and greater strength. In addition, CSF can use a thinner material that is more efficient and lighter. Adding lightness has its benefits as a thicker core will mean the radiator and extra coolant will weigh more (thicker is not always the best). By doing away with the plastic end tanks and connections, CSF has eliminated the main weak points of the stock radiator design. The plastic has a tendency to crack and leak, especially on track cars where the extreme heat makes the plastic brittle.
The E46 CSF Aluminum radiator is designed to fit the same as the original radiator but uses a thicker core that reduces clearance to other components. Even though most often used in full-track builds, it re-uses most of the factory plastic shrouding, hose connections, and mounting points. However, some small modifications, trimming, and adjustments may help improve fitment. Clearance between the expansion tank and power steering pulley is particularly tight but contact is rare, even on Spec E46 and other track cars, and can usually be traced to either incorrect installation or worn engine mounts.
The BimmerWorld silicone hoses are a 3-layer polyester-core design which makes them much more durable than stock. They can hold more pressure and retain their flexibility longer without the aging and cracking issues of rubber hoses. This kit includes the two most common failure hoses - upper and lower radiator, and includes new OEM hose connectors. We don't recommend re-using the original connectors because the spring clip wears out over time and likely won't have adequate tension to seal on the new radiator. To prevent a leak post-install we have included new connectors in this package.
The o-ring in this package is for the mounting plate for the expansion tank. When removing the plate from the radiator this o-ring should be replaced.
Powerflex offset radiator mounts improve clearance between the radiator/shroud and other accessories on the engine, notably the expansion tank.
BMW coolant is sold separately (or purchase it locally to save on shipping).
