Auxiliary Fan Switch, 91C - E21, E30, E12, E28, E9, E24, E23, E26

This part is listed by BMW as BMW part number 61311364272 (61 31 1 364 272) and is described as a 91°C (196°F) single-speed Auxiliary Fan Switch for E21 320i, 323i (1977-1983), E30 318i, 325e, 325i, 325is, 325ix, M3 (1984-1987), E12 528i, 530i (1977-1981), E28 528e, 533i, 535i, M5 (1982-1988), E24 630CSi, 633CSi, 635CSi (1982-1986), and E23 733i, 735i (1977-1987). It's a standard M14x1.5 thread pitch.

This sensor is typically found on the side of the radiator or in a hose near the outlet of the radiator. It measures coolant temp and is used to turn on the auxiliary fan in front of  the radiator to help control engine temps at low speeds. This is a single-speed switch set to 91°C (196°F). A failing switch won't activate the aux fan. It's easy to test if the switch is bad by applying vehicle power to the fan itself (bypass the switch).

This part is manufactured by an aftermarket supplier of European auto parts, including many electrical components. While not carrying OEM status, this part follows the design of the original very closely and uses similar materials. An aftermarket part may even have the same TUV approval as its OEM counterpart. The brand may even be OEM to another manufacturer besides BMW. This aftermarket brand has a two year warranty - the same as Genuine BMW and OEM brands.
