This is a Genuine BMW Microswitch for the convertible top system on the 1996-2002 BMW Z3 roadster, including all engine variations as well as the MZ3 Roadster. Located in the left side of the convertible top frame, this micro-switch is central to the operation of your power convertible top. If it fails, your powered top may stop working, or become problematic.
This switch is used on Z3 1.9, Z3 2.3, Z3 2.5, Z3 2.8, Z3 3.0, and Z3 M Roadster in model years 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, and 2002. It's a pretty easy fix, and a very common problem.
